Media Monday

KP calls them Media Mondays. I've decided to steal her idea.

Yesterday Mountain Man taught Marek how to High 5. I think the video speaks for it self. Although Mountain Man and I are both fond of how Marek falls when Dad steals his hand away.

Tick Tock! What time is it?

It's time for YaYa to come over and celebrate Mountain Man's B' Day.

Tea, BonTon sausage rolls, ginger snap cookies. C'est Bon.

I couldn't resist

I find myself saying that a lot as justifications of pictures of Marek. In this case I realized that the adorable hat Mountain Man bought Marek would not fit him next fall. Since, it was too big for this past winter, I decided he needed to wear it for at least one afternoon.

Marek discovered Mountain Man's globe collection today. He likes to spin them round and round, making all the tiny people of those worlds real dizzy.

Marek is also quite fond of banging his Curious Geroge tea set together.

I'm rather fond of the above to-the-moon shot

If it's mommy's it must be good

First their was my blackberry. Then my comb. Lately it's been all about my electric toothbrush. Which he is none to impressed with when I try and brush his teeth.

There was no way it should have worked

I made Spicy Lentil Soup.

I expected Marek and I would eat it, but in no way did I ever expect Mountain Man to eat it. He did, and he liked it (with more spices added).

Mountain Man even liked the Chia (high in omega 3) Pumpkin Muffins; although they needed more spices and were a bit under done by me.

Pasta sauce with eggplant and no meat surprised us both by being good.

The world has turned upside down.

Marek has to big bumps on his gum line were teeth are immanent. Lucky us his spirits are still high.

He's getting real good at standing up using different pieces of furniture. He's also started to real crawl, as opposed to tummy crawling, more and more. We're even seeing quite a bit of him walking on his hands and feet a titch. Don't know if he's trying to stand or walk. Hmm ....

P.S. Dad is washing the patio in these shots.

We're Alive

The family has spent a few hours each of the last few days at Best Buy trying to get my blackberry fixed. In the end I ended up having to pay for an upgrade to a Bold, and today after working with Telus I am finally in touch with the world again.

Aside from that we are having a very productive extra long weekend. Grass cut, patios scrubbed, order maintained.

We tried Baked Cinnamon Apples with Frozen Vanilla Yogurt, and both really liked it. Josh would have preferred no peels, but I'm thinking of ignoring that request as the peels are so healthy.

Marek is exploring the world with his usual vim and vigour. Pot banging has been new and popular this weekend, and has standing up, up, UP.

Marjory mentioned to me how he's starting to look like a little person, instead of a little baby. We've seen it to. Makes you want to hold him just a little longer. Today, he feel a sleep in my arms for nap time. I had a hard time convincing myself to put him down.

Young Indy

Marek has recently become facinated by Mountain Man's hat.

As you can see, I still need to figure out how to remove red eye.

We love nap time

We love nape time at out house. Marek has been going through a growth spurt, and thus feeding every couple hours at night. So lately not only do Marek and Leo participate in morning nap time, so do I.

Luckily morning nap time is a couple hours. So I can update you all, do a quick 20 minute weight training or yoga session, and join in the second half of nap time.

I made the You On A Diet Spicy Chili on Brown Rice Pilaf last night. I thought the turkey chili was excellent, though Josh thought I should have added more spices. We both found it so filling, that we didn't want dessert. Must be the kidney beans, as I doubt the extra veggies I add are that filling. There's enough left over to have it again tonight.

I prepped the remainder of the ingredients in the afternoon, so that the actual time to get food on/in the oven and cooking was minimal.  Which works best with Marek.

Mountain Man took a vacation day today, so we're trying to decide our what our adventures for the day should be post nap.

Time to snooze.. Zzzzzzzzzzz..

Don't you love pudgy thighs

On babies, not me.

Lately Marek is awake for 2 hours before his big 2 hour morning nap. This morning as Marek ran a muke in the kitchen, I took the time to cut up all the veggies for lunch, afternoon snacks, and dinner. I figure breaking it up into smaller pieces should a pease Marek more, than me ditching him for a long stretch to make dinner all at once.

Tonight we try You On A Diet's Turkey Chili over the same brown rice pilaf as last night. Again, I'm going to add a few extra veggies, like carrots. That way Marek can eat Mountain Man's cooked carrots.

Note: The You On A Diet dishes say to serve 4, but those people are my size, not Mountain Man's. So they really serve 3 portions (dinner plus a lunch for Mountain Man). You does say that you should eat what you need to not be hungry, not just their recommended serving size. Consider, that you do get a healthy dessert/snack after to.

I've done the You On A Diet and just the plain You 20 minute workouts and really like them. I can find 20 minutes to do them a few times a week, and not needing wights makes everything easier.

On the baby front, the look of awe Marek is sporting in the above picture is because he's watching Leo dance around outside. Leo of course is braking because he wants some of the cucumber I'm cutting up.

Today Marek tried an organic healthy teething biscuit. I figure anything is worth the try to save my poor chin from being chewed on.

Trying out the You On A Diet book

First meal made out of the You On A Diet book. Tonight I made (yes, I and not Josh or some mythical creature who lives in our house) the Asian Salmon with Rice. I made something that actually had ingredients like spices and flavouring. Josh ate it and everything. I believe him when he said it tasted good, and that he just wasn't trying to get out of telling me the truth.

Considering I know next to nothing about cooking, and that plain rice is a stretch for me not to burn, I say that's a good sign about the books ease of use. Bonus, it was truly healthy for all of us.

One small step to becoming a mama who can feed her cub.

We skipped the final two swim classes as Marek was just tuckered our from the weekend Fever Teething, and his skin was just starting to heal from the associated heat rash.

New Game

Today we found a new game; pushing Marek around in the laundry basket to the different rooms to drop of laundry.
Vroom vroom to Dada's den to drop of socks.
Then beep beep to the bedroom to put his clothes away.
Broom off to the washroom for towels.
Honk honk to Marek's room for his clothes.

Milestone

Last night Marek pulled himself up to standing, and became as master instantly. For the rest of the night he was pulling himself up with ease constantly.

Why I love the cabin

I never have to walk or do anything with Leo at the cabin. Not that I don't love him and would love to spend time playing with him. I just don't have the time. After a few days swimming, roaming, barking, and playing with Snow Ball, Leo's all tuckered out.

First we had fun with Grandma and Granny eating bread. Then we crawled all over the table, with said bread, and thought it was hilarious.

Sunny day on the patio at Pitt Lake. I spend it trying to convince Marek not to crawl off his blanket. He did not seem interested in my warning of splinters.

My man and sister spent it performing science experiments. This one involved a penny and peroxide. KP's is the blue solution; made with a Canadian penny. My man's came out brown (insert joke here) and used an American penny. After what seemed an hour, there was bubbles but no corrosion to the pennies.

Picking Clover with Papa

Okay, I'm still learning. So this probably looks really messy. Either way the point is, is there really a better way to spend a sunny May day then on a blanket at pitt lake. Papa picks clover. Leo chills. Marek eats his shoes (note: I need to bring up some outside toys), and Mama takes pictures of all.

Our mid morning snack now consists of Marek, me, and Leo all eating healthy fake cherrios. I think Leo gets the most.

The once the cherrios are all gone, Leo runs away with Marek fast on his heels. Marek is clearly in charge of the two.

Still, Leo puts up with a little bit of Marek crawling all over him, touching his nose and paws, and playing with his dog tags.

The elusive ma mama showed up yesterday. I don't think Marek understood why I cheered so much.

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

You would think that Marek was standing from the shots, but what he's actually doing is climbing up the bed by putting his feet first on a box, then the bed rail. All this to try and get the camera from me. He likes to use his powers for evil.

Last night we almost scored the elusive "mama", but what he actually introduced to his repatoir was "nanan".

On the weekend he was taking a few "steps" crawling with his tummy up. Today he's crossing the whole bedroom with his tummy off the floor. When going for speed he still puts his tummy down.

He's very balanced on his knees now, and doesn't fall anymore. He's climbing everything as such, but know that I don't have to worry about post head bonk crying, it's cool.

For a few weeks now he's been in love with dancing. He sits on his bum and bops up and and down.

He insists on turning the stair lights on and off every time I go down stairs. He understands what happens now to; he hits the light switch and looks at the light for a change. He's gotten pretty good at it hitting the 2 different parts dead on.

When you say doggy, he look to Leo's bed. When you day daddy (or hear Josh's bathroom door open), he looks to the bed room door, and when you say fairy, he looks up at the ceiling. When you say milk, he giggles.

You have to watch him around Leo when Leo has a cookie, as he steals the Leo's cookies. Leo gives them up and runs away. He also climbs all over Leo and pulls out his fur.
